Today Living Group – COVID-19 Health and Safety Update

We have updated our operating procedures to prioritize health and safety

Today Living Group has always maintained stringent cleaning policies in our short term furnished suites and long-term unfurnished leases, however with the emergence of COVID-19 we have updated our procedures in order to prioritize high health and safety standards for our valued guests, tenants and our staff.

We continue to follow and implement the guidelines as set out by Toronto and Ontario Public Health units and will make decisions as per their directions.

Most of our office staff are working from home or with limited office schedules to comply with physical distancing in our spaces. Any staff that are in office are provided with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and are encouraged to follow recommendations on hand hygiene.  We have also increased the frequency and level of cleaning in our office spaces.

Our Updated Procedures:

Virtual Tours & Viewings

We continue to offer photos, floor plans and videos upon request for any future booking. Our property profiles for our furnished suites outline the suite features and contents.

Interest in our unfurnished rentals are treated similarly.  Prospective tenants can view vacant properties in person as well as virtually with photos of the complete suite along with floor plans.

Contactless Paperwork

We do not require in office signing of any of our accommodation agreements, lease agreements or other documents including our welcome information detailing important suite and building information.  Everything is completed via email and signed digitally along with our secure online credit card payment system.

Contactless Check in/out

All of our properties and locations allow for contactless check in and check out of the suites.  Key pick up is arranged via building security or as otherwise stated in your arrival/welcome email.

Upon arrival TLG is providing all guests with a free starter welcome package. This includes a variety of snacks (coffee, tea, granola, chocolate and juice), also some pantry foods such as pasta, sauce, popcorn and peanut butter.  We are providing extra soap and paper products including toilet paper, paper towels and shower/bath products and laundry and dishwasher soap. We also will provide some masks, gloves and hand sanitizer in efforts to keep all of our guests safe and comfortable.  If grocery service is required, feel free to contact our team to make those arrangements!

Cleaning & Housekeeping

Currently our weekly and biweekly housekeeping services are suspended to protect our staff and our clients from potential additional germs.  Upon a guest departure, our housekeeping staff will enter no earlier than 5 days after to complete an extremely thorough departure clean following Health Canada’s guidelines on disinfectants and antibacterial cleaners. This means there are at minimum 5 days between reservations.

24/7 Emergency Service

We are always available for emergencies (fire, flood, no power, no water, lock outs) and will arrive with full PPE to address any emergency concerns. This also includes repairs and maintenance (electrical, plumbing).  Any other non-emergency concern can be handled over email or phone with our guest services team.

Condo Amenities & Shared Spaces

Currently most condominium amenities and shared spaces (gym, pool, party room) are closed to limit exposure and follow the guidelines as set out by our local and provincial health experts. However, as things are constantly changing it is best to speak to on-site security staff for your specific building rules and regulations.

If you have any concerns, questions or feedback, please contact a TLG team member who will be happy to help you!

How do we get groceries during a pandemic

Here are some unconventional and new methods to getting groceries in Toronto!

With many of us staying at home and practicing physical distancing, grocery shopping has become problematic. We obviously need groceries, but with long line ups, crowded spaces and panic buying, it has become quite the process.  Of course, there are grocery stores offering pick up options (like PC and Walmart) and online ordering through companies like Instacart and Grocery Gateway, but those time slots are hard to come by.  As a result, many businesses are stepping up to the plate to help. Not only does this us get our groceries, but it is keeping people employed.

Highlighted below are some new and unconventional ways you can get your groceries! Who knows…maybe you will love these services so much, you won’t want to step into a grocery store again!

  1. Food Share – The Good Food Box

The Good Food Box has been a local program in Toronto for over 30 years.  The provide fresh, seasonal and local, high quality produce delivered to your door weekly.  Customers have options to purchase a small ($16) or large box ($22) of produce. Each purchase goes towards supporting Toronto’s “most nutritionally vulnerable through a variety of programs and initiatives”.  Typically, you can customize boxes but right now customization is not an option.

  1. Mama Earth Organics

Similarly, Mama Earth Organics is a well-known food delivery subscription in Toronto providing weekly, organic produce as well as seafood, eggs and bread. They also have pre-made healthy meals – how easy is that!  They have adopted various changes to their systems due to COVID-19. Their website advertises contactless delivery, increased sanitation practices and health screenings for staff. Definitely something to look for when choosing a grocery delivery company!

  1. Village Juicery

Village Juicery is Toronto’s first certified organic juicery, they have 3 prominent Toronto locations and now are offering NEXT DAY delivery!  Not only do they offer 100% vegan cold pressed juices and smoothies, vegan milks, but they have plant-based meals and personalized cleanses. Due to COVID-19 they have also added fresh produce delivery and pantry items (nuts, seeds, vinegar, gluten free flours).  They are truly stepping up to the plate! Click here to check out their awesome delivery menu.

  1. D&D Poultry

For over 20 years, D&D poultry has been supplying the food industry in Ontario with chicken products including souvlaki, chicken tenders, burgers, and wings!  Their retail store in Scarborough is open to the public – with strict physical distancing procedures in place.  They have also revamped their website and now offer “online ordering” and GTA delivery.  There are some minimum orders in place so wait until you have some room to stock up your fridge and freezer.  With the warm weather approaching, it will be nice to start the grill!

  1. Support our farmers! Check out Brooks Farm

If you are wanting to support our Ontario farmers and avoid busy stores, then it may be worthwhile to take a nice country drive up to Mount Albert (45 minutes North of Toronto) to Brooks Farms.  Once again, they have revamped their website and changed their business model to handle the changing food industry.  You can get frozen fruit and vegetables, fresh produce, preservatives like maple syrup, FLOUR & YEAST (if you have not joined the baking bread trend, now you can!), dairy, meats and freshly baked breads and treats!  They offer curbside delivery and all you have to do is call in your order for SAME DAY pick up! Wow!

  1. Restaurants

As restaurants have been forced to close for dine-in service, many are still open for take-out which has been such a nice treat. Take out is even more enticing as they are able to offer alcohol and wine – so you can still get your favourite dish with your favourite cocktail!  A few restaurants are also taking the next step into the food industry and partake in grocery service and are offering produce, meal kits and even household items like toilet paper and hand soap!  Two well known franchises are Earls and Joeys.

It is especially important to support your local neighbourhood favourite so that they are around when it comes time to re-open, so be sure to give them a call!

TLG is proud to offer grocery service in our fully furnished suites as an added benefit. Maple Leaf Square is conveniently located above a Longo’s grocery store for easy, indoor access just an elevator ride away.

We have a winner

Today Living Group wins Tower of Excellence award for company of the year.  Michelle White, president and CEO, accepted the award during the 2020 Corporate Housing Provider Association (CHPA) Annual Conference held in Austin, Texas in February.  The CHPA Tower of Excellence awards are the most prestigious recognition in the industry.   This is Today Living Group’s second Tower of Excellence award!
